Death Race 2000 is an American sci-fi/action movie directed by Paul Bartel. It was produced by New World Pictures and released theatrically in the United States on April 25th, 1975. The film was remade under the shortened title Death Race in 2008. The movie takes place in the then near-future reality of the year 2000 and stars David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone as participants in a deadly high-stakes cross-country car race where drivers run down pedestrians in the ultimate sporting event.
