Dean Cain, born Dean George Tanaka, is an American film nd television actor born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on July 31st, 1966. His surname is taken from his adoptive father, director Christopher Cain. His mother is film actress Sharon Thomas Cain.
Dean Cain is best known for playing the role of iconic DC Comics superhero Superman, aka Clark Kent, in the 1997-1997 television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. He appeared in all eighty-seven episodes of the series. Like many Superman alumni, Dean Cain made a guest appearance on the CW Network series Smallville, playing an anatgonist named Curtis Knox. Dean's character was a pastiche of another DC Comics supervillain, the immortal Vandal Savage.
It is not uncommon for former genre stars to make the direct-to circuit after the discontinuation of the series that they are best known for and Dean Cain is not exception. He has appeared in several Sci-Fi Original Pictures films that aired on the Syfy channel including Dragon Fighter, Frost Giant and Maneater.
