The Day of the Triffids is a 1962 sci-fi film directed by Steve Sekely. It was released theatrically in the UK in July of 1962 and in the United States on April 27th, 1963. The films is based on the 1951 novel The Day of the Triffids by author John Wyndham. Wyndham's story has since been adapted into the 1981 six-part The Day of the Triffids mini-series as well as the 2009 two-part The Day of the Triffids mini-series, both airing on the BBC.
