Before leaving, Annette Devereaux asked David to keep an eye on the house.
That evening, Trish held a slumber party at the house with a few friends. David paid a friendly visit, but Trish's friend Kim Clark was unaware that he was there when she presented a bag of marijuana to her friends. David let the matter go, but warned them to take it easy on the "Maui wowey".
When returning to his house next door, David was attacked by Russ Thorn, who was an escaped serial killer. Russ used a high-powered drill and drilled David through the neck. He then placed his body into the trunk of a car.
