Dave Collins is a old man and a minor character featured in the Lives of the Mayfair Witches line of novels by author Anne Rice. He appeared in flashback in the first book in the series, The Witching Hour, published in October, 1990.
Biography[]
Dave Collins was born in the year 1901 and lived in the Garden District of New Orleans. Dave grew up aware of the mysterious Mayfair family and the bizarre history that surrounded him. At a picnic function, he once told Father Mattingly and Father Lafferty about Stella Mayfair, who seemingly had an unending purse of riches. When Stella died, her purse appeared by the beside of her daughter Antha. Dave believed that it was the family's legacy. Just as it was the tradition that every member of the family retain their surname regardless of who they marry. He further asserted that the Mayfairs were all witches and that Stella was the Chosen One because she had seen "The Man".
Dave Collins later died in a bar on Magazine Street at a very old age. Father Mattingly found that strangely appropriate.
