Daultay Dofine was a fictional character featured in the Star Wars film franchise. He was an extraterrestrial character of the Neimoidian race and appeared in the 1999 film Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace where he was played by actor Alan Ruscoe. Actor Chris Sanders provided the voice for Daultay Dofine. Daultay is best remembered as being referred to as a "stunted slime" by Sith lord Darth Sidious in the beginning of the film.
Biography[]
Daultay Dofine was a Neimoidian from his race's home world Neimoidia. Like many of his species, Daultay was a member of the Trade Federation and was the captain of the Lucrehulk-class battleship Saak'ak. In 32 BBY, the Saak'ak, and a fleet of similar battleships formed a blockade around the planet Naboo in response to increased taxation in the Free Trade Zone in the Naboo system. Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray and Settlement Officer Rune Haako were aboard the Saak'ak at this time and were expected to negotiate a settlement with two representatives of the Jedi Order, at the best of Galactic Republic Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum. The Trade Federation however were secretly controlled by a Sith Lord, Darth Sidious. Nute Gunray ordered Dofine to distract the Jedi while he contacted Darth Sidious, but the cowardly Neimoidian opted instead to send the protocol droid TC-14 in his stead. When Dofine addressed Lord Sidious, he expressed his concern regarding the Jedi's presence, but the Sith master called him a "stunted slime" and said that he didn't want to see him again.
Ultimately, the negotiations never took place and Sidious ordered the Trade Federation to invade Naboo. Daultay Dofine was placed in command of the Droid Control Ship, which coordinated the B1 battle droid ground assault troops on the planet's surface. The Naboo sent a squad of N-1 starfighters to attack the Droid Control Ship, but only one of the pilots, nine-year-old Anakin Skywalker, succeeded in getting past the ship's deflector field. He fired a pair of proton torpedos into the ship's main reactor, destroying the Droid Control Ship. Daultay Dofine, and all aboard, were killed in the explosion. [1]
