Darla von Karlsen is a fictional character featured in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. She appeared in the first episode of series seven, "Asylum of the Daleks".
Darla von Karlsen was an Earth human who had been captured by the Daleks. They used nanotechnology to turn her into a Dalek puppet and then sent her to the race's home world of Skaro. They provided her with the means to send a message to the Eleventh Doctor. The Doctor arrived and complimented her on her ability to reach out to him - not an easy thing to do. He asked her why she picked Skaro as a meeting place, and she said that she knew the Doctor would only come if he found something intriguing about the mystery of it all. Darla told the Doctor that her daughter, Hannah, was a prisoner of the Daleks and was imprisoned in a Dalek work camp. When asked why she was not in a work camp herself, Darla told him that she had escaped. This immediately made the Doctor suspicious as no one escapes the Daleks. He realized only too late that he had fallen into a trap. Darla used her Dale puppet weaponry to incapacitate the Doctor and he was taken aboard the ship of the Parliament of Daleks.
