Daniel Tsuchida is a fictional super-hero featured in comic books published by Image Comics. He first appeared in Youngblood #1 in April, 1992.
Biography[]
Daniel Tsuchida was the offspring of a human woman, Megan Tsuchida, and a member of the Jakkaran race, Khylund. Megan Tsuchida was a paleobotanist who had discovered the Jakkari people while on an expedition in Zaire. She was captured and imprisoned, but fell in love with one of her captors, Khylund. Megan gave birth to their child, Daniel, in 1967.
The birth of a half-breed came as a great offense to the Jakkari people, and Megan, Khylund and Daniel were all marked for death. Khylund managed to help Megan and his son escape, but Khylund was killed in the attempt.
Megan made it back to the United States where she continued to raise Daniel, who demonstrated feline physical characteristics, which were common to his paternal heritage. As an adult, Daniel was selected for inclusion in the Youngblood program and was given the code name Cougar. As a member of Youngblood, Cougar often served on the group's international away team.
