Daniel Christopher Gilroy is an American film screenwriter born in Santa Monica, California on June 24th, 1959. His first film work was the 1992 sci-fi movie Freejack, directed by Geoff Murphy and starring Emilio Estevez, Mick Jagger and Anthony Hopkins. In 2011, Dan was the story developer of the robot boxing film Real Steel starring Hugh Jackman.
