Dale Rice is a fictional scientist and a minor character featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is part of the mainstream Marvel Universe and is associated with the X-Men line of comic book titles. He made an appearance in flashback in X-23 #1 in 2005.
Biography[]
Dale Rice was a scientist assigned to the Weapon X program. He played a key role in the process that infused a Canadian mutant named James Howlett with adamantium. When Howlett escaped from the facility, he used his adamantium-coated claws to hack and slash his way to freedom. Dale Rice was one of his victims, whom Howlett impaled through the back with his claws.
Dale Rice was survived by a son, Zander Rice, who continued his father's work at The Facility and played a key role in the creation of a genetic clone of Howlett, classified as X-23.
