The DF.9 Turret is a fictional weapon featured in the Star Wars multimedia franchise. It first appeared in the 1980 feature film, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
Description & History[]
The DF.9 Turret was an anti-infantry weapon utilized by the Alliance to Restore the Republic. The turret consisted of a cylindrical base through which a person could enter and a gunner station at the top where they could fire laser systems at advancing enemies. The gunner station could rotate 360 degrees, enabling them to combat enemy opponents from any direction.
The DF.9 Turret was used during the Battle of Hoth. When All Terrain Armored Transport walkers began advancing on the Rebel base, the DF.9 fired its laser cannon, but its payload was not sufficient enough to do any damage to the Imperial walkers. [2]
