A cult leader is one who is the authoritative figurehead of a cult. One who joins a cult is called a cultist. Membership in a cult is not always voluntary. Sometimes people are drugged and/or brainwashed into joining.
In The Satanic Rites of Dracula, a British woman of Asian descent named Chin Yang acted as priestess and officiator of a cult that had been established in Croxley Heath in England by the vampire lord, Dracula. Chin Yang performed a ritual involving animal sacrifice, and then human sacrifice in order to invoke the power of Satan. During the ceremony, Chin Yang sacrificed a cockerel and poured its blood onto the naked body of a cult member. She used the blood to anoint the other members of the cult with the sign of an inverted cross upon their foreheads. She then stabbed the woman through the stomach, but the woman revived soon after as a vampire.
