Cross Technological Enterprises (CTE) is a fictional business featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. It first appeared in Marvel Premiere #47 in April, 1979.
Description[]
Cross Technological Enterprises was a scientific research and development firm founded by Darren Cross. It had operations facilities established across the country with major laboratories located in Yonkers, New York and Miami, Florida. Cross Technological Industries was a rival to other such major business ventures including Stark Industries and Cord Manufacturing.
History[]
When CEO Darren Cross was dying a rare heart condition, he kidnapped scientist Erica Sondheim to save his life. Requiring a heart transplant, he had his men abduct unwilling "donors" for the operation. The abduction of Erica Sondheim drew the attention of Scott Lang, who required Sondheim's expertise to save the life of his daughter, Cassie. It was through this confluence of events that Scott Lang first became Ant-Man - the successor to the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym.
Following the apparent passing of Darren Cross, his son Augustine Cross, took over as the head of the company. [1]
Marvel Cinematic Universe[]
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Cross Technologies was originally known as Pym Technologies, and was founded by scientist Hank Pym following his departure from the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. One of Pym's protégés was Darren Cross. Cross eventually grew disenchanted with his mentor, believing that he did not share the same ambition as he, so he manipulated the board of directors into ousting Pym from the company. Cross took over and re-branded the company as Cross Technologies. Under Darren's leadership, he used Pym's designs and the development of Pym particles to create the Yellowjacket suit for military applications.
