Critters is an American feature film of the science fiction subgenre of horror with some elements of comedy as well. It was directed by Stephen Herek with a screenplay written by Herek and Domonic Muir. It was produced by New Line Cinema and Sho Films in association with Smart Egg Pictures. It premiered in the United States on April 11th, 1986. The premise of the film involves a race of small furry aliens called Crites, who escape from an alien prison transport and hide out on Earth in a town in rural Kansas. Two shape-shifting alien bounty hunters come after them, and the Brown family find themselves in the middle of this silent alien invasion.

- Critters was produced to capitalize on the popularity of Joe Dante's 1984 film Gremlins.
- Directorial debut for Stephen Herek. He previously worked as an assistant editor on the 1982 slasher film Slumber Party Massacre.
