A crisis counselor is someone who offers psychiatric and emotional support therapy to those suffering from mental and sometimes physical trauma, including post-traumatic stress syndrome, postpartum depression, and those suffering from codependence and/or involved in abusive relationships.
In the 2000 film Scream 3, the character of Sidney Prescott as a crisis counselor for women under the alias of "Laura" from a remote cabin location. A two-time survivor of psychopathic violence, Sidney's new vocation was not enough to protect her from yet another threat from a mysterious masked individual donning the appearance and modus operandi of "Ghostface".
