Craven is a fictional biker and a secondary antagonist featured in the AMC survival horror series The Walking Dead. Played by actor Rod Rowland, he appeared in the season ten finale episode, "Here's Negan".

Biography[]

Craven was a biker and the leader of Valek's Vipers. He operated in the Virginia area during the early days of the zombie apocalypse. The Valek's Vipers gang would seek out wandering groups of survivors and steal their supplies. They learned about two people named Franklin and Laura, who were driving around in a recreational vehicle with medical supplies.

Craven had intercepted a man named Negan Smith who was on his way home with chemo fluids for his dying wife, Lucille. Craven captured Negan and bound him to a chair. He tortured him and threatened to destroy the chemo fluids unless he gave up his suppliers. Negan eventually relented, and Craven took to antagonizing Franklin.

During this time, Negan's wife expired. Driven over the edge, he returned to Craven's place armed with a baseball bat wrapped in barb wire. After dispatching one of the members of Valek's Vipers, Negan then bludgeoned Craven to death.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • Craven is Negan's second on-screen murder victim, and the second victim be killed by "Lucille", the baseball bat. His first victim was one of Craven's lieutenants.
  • Since Craven's head was bashed in, resulting in his death, he would not have reanimated as a zombie.

  1. The timeline presented in the series establishes that Craven died some twelve years prior to the events of season ten. Given the two time-jumps shown between seasons, this dates the beginning of the apocalypse sometime around 2010, which is also when the TV series began.
