Biography[]

The Cowled One was a powerful higher being who was part of a cadre of similar entities dubbed the Five-Who-Are-All. He hailed from the Region Beyond Reality - an existential plane of existence outside the physical confines of the normal spacetime continuum.

One of their number, who later came to be known as Glitternight, turned against his brethren, enslaving another member of the group, Fire-Eyes, and imprisoning him within his own essence. The remaining three, the Cowled One, the Goat-Child, and Burning Snake, now branded as the Three-Who-Are-All fought against Glitternight in a battle that shook all of the cosmos to its core. The fabric of space itself was their battlefield and they wielded planets as if they were hand-thrown weapons. Ultimately, the Three-Who-Are-All proved victorious and pierced the dimensional aperture between the Region Beyond Reality and the Earth realm. Glitternight was reduced in power and banished to Earth where he was forced to take on a quasi-mortal form.

Jack Russell - a werewolf, as well as his sister, Lissa Russell, and friends Raymond Coker and Topaz, found themselves in combat against Glitternight - a battle that eventually brought them to the Region Beyond Reality. There, they encountered the Cowled One and the other members of the supernatural trinity. They warned Jack Russell that he must prepare for a change - one that would be precipitated by a death. [1]

The change that the trinity referred to manifested itself when Jack developed the ability to control his werewolf transformations. They indicated that for their current crisis against Glitternight to resolves itself, Jack must aid in freeing their lost brethren - Fire-Eyes. Fire-Eyes aided Russell and the others in fighting against Glitternight, and he was defeated. With that, Fire-Eyes rejoined his former higher beings, and they became the Four-Who-Are-One. [2]
