The Collectors are a fictional organization featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. They first appeared in Black Panther #1 in January, 1977.
History[]
The Collectors were a group of... well, collectors. They sought out the most interesting and valuable artifacts in the world. Their members included Abner Little and Alfred Queely. At some point, the Collectors recovered the fabled Brass Frog - a mystical item with time travel capabilities that was once unearthed in King Solomon's tomb.
Alfred Queely was the last member of the group to take up possession of the device, but his tampering with the artifact pulled forth an Aztec warrior, who stabbed him through the heart with his sword. Abner Little and his new ally, the Black Panther, came to Queely's house moments after he was murdered. The Black Panther fought with the warrior, but the man got away. They acquired the frog but were subsequently captured and brought to the lair of Princess Zanda. [1]
