Cosmic awareness is the ability to perceive reality on a cosmic level. This includes having knowledge of certain events or portents and being able to predict the ebb and tide of the universe itself. By and large, beings of great power who serve as a fundamental force in the greater workings of the cosmos possess this ability. It is an ability also shared by many deities from varying faiths and/or pantheons.
The Fourth Wall[]
A lesser form of cosmic awareness is known as "Breaking the Fourth Wall". This is a phenomenon that occurs when a being becomes aware of the fact that they are a fictional character within a fictional setting. In such cases, characters have been known to communicate directly with the creators of a publication, or with the reader or viewer of a particular medium. Notable examples of such characters include She-Hulk and Deadpool from Marvel Comics. In DC Comics' Vertigo line, the character of Buddy Baker underwent an existential experience wherein he became aware of the fact that he was a comic book character.
