A coroner is the guy ya call when you need to find out how and why somebody got themselves killed. The technical term for this position is Medical Examiner, or Forensics Examiner. The title of coroner may also be an extension of a large job function such as a Forensics Pathologist or even the District Attorney, depending upon the requirements and jurisdiction in which the individual is operating. In many U.S. states, a Medical Examiner's jurisdiction is based on the county that they work in. Coroners may also work with an assistant, who are known by the appropriately nifty title of... yup. You guessed it. Assistant coroners.
