Cooties is an American feature film of the horror/comedy genres. It was co-directed by Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion with a screenplay written by Leigh Whannell and Ian Brennan based on a story treatment by Whannell, Brennan and Josh C. Waller. It was produced by SpectreVision and Glacier Films and was first screened at the Sundance Film Festival on January 18th, 2014. It opened to wider national release on September 18th, 2015. The premise of the film involves a viral infection caused by tainted processed chicken tenders that are delivered to an elementary school's cafeteria in Fort Chicken, Illinois. Consuming the tainted chicken meat turns those affected into murderous blood-thirsty zombie-like psychos - but it only affects those who have yet to reach puberty. The staff of the school must settle their own differences within the group and band together to defend themselves, and if need be, kill the ravenous "cootie" afflicted student body.
