Biography[]
"Cookie", real name unknown, was a cook in the employ of the Radcliffe family in England. Presumably, she had been in the family's employ for many years. By 1940, she appeared to be a woman in her late fifties or early sixties. In addition to preparing meals for the main members of the household, she also cooked for the staff, and spent time with them in the servants' area.
When her employer, Geoffrey Radcliffe, had been convicted of murdering his brother Michael, Cookie was one of several members of the household who was greatly upset by the news. Another staff member, Mister Cotton, was likewise disheartened by the news and refused to believe that Geoffrey was guilty. Cookie seconded his opinion, pointing out that Geoffrey and Michael were great pals. While cooking for her friends, she looked on as Mister Cotton bandied comments with the family's chauffeur. [2]
