History[]
Original Series[]
The Collinsport Hospital was the primary medical center located in the seaport town of Collinsport, Maine. As with most things in Collinsport, it was likely the only medical treatment facility in town. If anyone ran a fever, broke an arm or developed a serious case of gout, they usually ended up going to the Collinsport Hospital. The Collinsport Hospital was also known for its random medical mysteries that would occasionally crop up in some of its patients. In most cases, such patients suffered from extreme blood loss and had two pinprick lacerations upon their throat. As no one in Collinsport ever seemed to have heard of vampires, these symptoms were quite the head scratcher amongst its staff.
Maggie Evans was admitted to Collinsport Hospital after she had become anemic. She was given an emergency blood transfusion, but attending physician Doctor Dave Woodard was at a loss to explain the dramatic loss of blood in her body. Maggie's father, Sam Evans, and boyfriend, Joe Haskell, kept a nightly vigil at her bedside.
Joe Haskell himself was once admitted to the Collinsport Hospital after receiving serious head trauma as a result of an attack by the reanimate known as Adam. Sheriff George Patterson came to Joe's room to question him about the assault. [1]
A short while later, a handyman named Tom Jennings was admitted to Collinsport Hospital after being attacked by Angelique, who was now a vampire. [2]
Gold Key Comics[]
A man named David Trask and a woman named Jane Willow, who also happened to be a nurse at the hospital, were admitted after making claims of an undersea spectre that had killed their friend Ed. Ed's ghost appeared before Jane and swore to avenge himself, blaming Barnabas Collins and Angelique for his death. He used his ghostly power to rouse Jane, prompting her to go to the Collinsport Harbor where he intended on using her as bait to set a trap for Barnabas. Angelique interfered with Ed's plan, and caused Jane to fall into a death-like state, reviving her a short time later. She was returned to Collinsport Hospital, where Doctor Julia Hoffman administered a serum to both Dave and she, causing them to forget their experiences. [3]

Notes[]
- Safety practices were a tad bid different in the 1960s than they are in modern times; as well as hiring practices. All of the doctors were men. All of the nurses were women. And everybody smoked... anywhere they wanted.
- The Dark Shadows comic book series by Gold Key Comics established that Julia Hoffman was among the staff at Collinsport Hospital. On the TV series, she was a staff member at Windcliff Sanitarium, though she did have associations with the Collinsport Hospital.
- Maggie Evans was born at Collinsport Hospital. [4]
