- "Man is a narcissistic species by nature. We have colonized the four corners of our tiny planet. But we are not the pinnacle of so-called evolution. That honor belongs to the lowly cockroach. Capable of living for months without food. Remaining alive headless for weeks at a time. Resistant to radiation. If God has indeed created Himself in His own image, then I submit to you that God is a cockroach."
- ―Doctor Mohinder Suresh

Cockroaches are insects of the order Blattaria or Blattodea, and are nocturnal little boogers that prefer the comfort of warm environments. The most notable breed of cockroach is the American cockroach, which... let's face it, they're pests, but they're fun to squish. Cockroaches are known for their adaptability and it is often joked that when the world ends in nuclear armageddon or a zombie apocalypse, cockroaches will be the only thing to survive.
A true testament to the intellect and adaptability of cocroaches resides in the form of a being known as Doctor Cockroach, who was one of the main characters from the film Monsters vs. Aliens. In addition to being a super genius and mad scientist, Doctor Cockroach prides himself on having a Ph.D. in Dancing. [1]
On the NBC television series Heroes, a scientist and instructor named Mohinder Suresh taught a lecture at Chennai University in India where he remarked that cockroaches represented the pinnacle of man's evolution. He even went so far as to compare a cockroach to God, though the humor of his comment seemed to be lost amongst his classmates. Later, when Doctor Suresh moved into his father's apartment in Brooklyn, New York, he found a cockroach upon the floor and crushed it. [2]
