Coalspur is a fictional town featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. It made a single appearance in Wolverine, Volume 1 #1 in September, 1982.
Coalspur is a small rural community located in the Canadian Rockies. The mutant superhero Wolverine learned of a rabid bear that was responsible for the deaths of seven men, three women and five children some distance from the town. He tracked the animal down and put it out of it's misery, but learned that a posion-tipped tranquilizer dart from a hunter was responsible for driving the bear insane. Using his enhanced senses, Wolverine tracked the hunter down to an establishment called Josie's Bar & Grill in Coalspur. Wolverine's intent was to simply apprehend the man and hand him over to the Mounties. However, when the hunter decided to smash a beer mug in Wolverine's face, the frenzied mutant decided to teach him a lesson first. Unlike the bear however, Wolverine let the hunter live. [1]
