Biography[]
Christopher "Chris" Merrill was the son of a man named John and Brenda Merrill. When John was imprisoned for murdering his wife, Brenda's brother, Reginald "Pop" Merrill, adopted Chris and his brother John. Pop also adopted two Somali orphans, Abdi and Nadia Howlwadaag. As an adult, Chris helped managed some of Pop's business ventures in Jerusalem's Lot, Maine. He also had an occasional romance with his adoptive sister, Nadia.
Chris was later murdered by Reverend Appleton, who had become the host to a ghostly spirit from a 17th century cult. Chris' body became a vessel for the spirit of another cult member. Though his true spirit tried to dispel the invading influence through medication, he could only hold out for so long. He fought against other members of the converted, and was struck in the abdomen by a stray bullet and died for a second a final time. [1]
