The second appeared in the first sequel, Hellbound: Hellraiser II.
Overview[]
Little is known about the Chatterer save that he is one of the demonic beings known as a Cenobite. He was once a mortal human male who, through reasons unknown, was consigned to Hell, and transmogrified into the Chatterer by the Engineer. The Chatterer is tall, lean and bald and wears black leather attire. He has pronounced teeth, which are always clacking together, hence his nickname. The Chatterer is the only one amongst the original Cenobite who does not speak.
In 2005, a young man named Mike paid over one-hundred dollars for an authentic Chatterer mask based upon the likeness of the entity. He used the mask to spook his friend Chelsea when he came to visit her.
During the 5th Annual secret Hellworld party, Chelsea hallucinated seeing the Chatterer approach her, as well as ghoulish representations of her dead friends Mike and Allison. Shortly following the events of the party, Pinhead along with Chatterer and the Banded Cenobite appeared in a room at the Clark Hotel after the party's host successfully solved a Lemarchand puzzle box. Both the Chatterer and the Banded Cenobite used large blades attached to a length of chain, which they swung in turn to dismember the host. [1]
Six years later, an unidentified woman was transmogrified into a female version of the Chatterer and inducted into the Order of the Gash. The Female Chatterer was present when Pinhead Nico Bradley solved the Lament Configuration, opening a portal to Hell, whereupon he was killed. Despite this, Nico's soul found an avenue of escape, and managed to return to life. He killed Steven and skinned him, wearing his flesh as his own.
The Female Chatterer emerged again later when Nico Bradley forced Emma Craven to solve the Lament Configuration in the Craven's home in Los Angeles. The Chatterer held Emma in place and terrified her with her chattering teeth. The Lead Cenobite reclaimed Nico and the Chatterer sliced the Steven face off of him. The Lead Cenobite turned Nico into a Pseudo-Cenobite, with physical accoutrements similar to his own. [2]
