Charlaine Harris is an American author specializing in mystery fiction novels. Her collected works have placed her on the New York Times best-selling authors list. Harris is best known for writing a series of romantic/horror novels known as the "Southern Vampire Mysteries", which features a female telepath named Sookie Stackhouse. Harris' Southern Vampire Mysteries novels have been adapted into the popular HBO television series True Blood. Harris also wrote another family of mystery novels collectively known as "The Harper Connelly Mysteries". The series features a young woman named Harper Connelly who, after being struck by lightning, is able to locate dead bodies and determine their cause of death. In addition to "The Southern Vampire Mysteries" and "The Harper Connelly Mysteries", Harris has also written the Aurora Teagarden series of novels and the Lily Bard series of novels.
