The Ceremonial pylons are a fictional item featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. They are part of the mainstream Marvel Universe and are associated with the Eternals line of comic titles. They first appeared in Eternals #2 in August, 1976. The ceremonial pylons were created by the Incan Empire inside the City of the Space Gods. They were designed to serve as landing pads for the Celestials if and when such beings ever deigned to return to Earth. Tecumotzin, also known as Ajak, was the one member of the Eternals who could commune with the space gods. When the Cosmic beacon was activated, signalling their arrival, Ajak rose the ceremonial pylons through the roof of the temple to greet them. The Celestial known as Arishem the Judge descended from his spacecraft and landed on the pylons. There, he was destined to stand in silent vigil for fifty years, at which time, he would render judgment upon the Earth.
