Catwoman is a fictional thief & criminal and a recurring antagonist featured in the 1966 Batman live-action television series. She is based on the character of Selina Kyle, who appears in Batman comic books published by DC Comics. The character first appeared in the nineteenth episode of season one titled, "The Purr-fect Crime". There have been three actresses who have portrayed the role of Catwoman in the franchise. The first was Julie Newmar, who played her for thirteen episodes in seasons one and two. The second was Lee Meriwether who made a single appearance in the theatrically released Batman: The Movie, which was released in between seasons one and two. The third was Eartha Kitt, who played Catwoman in season three.
