Rupert Wyatt is a British film director born in England on October 26th, 1972. He is the co-counder of a London and New York based production collective known as Picture Farm. His first film work was a 1999 short called Ticks, in which several patrons of a London bar count down the last "tick" of the clock until the new millennium. The short was directed by Tony Randel, but it was written and produced by Wyatt.
In 2011, Rupert directed his first major science fiction feature, Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Wyatt approached the storyline with an altogether different tone than what had been presented in Tim Burton's 2001 Planet of the Apes remake film. "I always thought...", says Wyatt, "to see the evolution from its inception and why an exploited species rises up against its dominators. To me, that is really dramatic and fascinating. To attempt to do that in a very real world setting is what I wanted to achieve." [1]
