Matthew Modine is an American film and television actor. He was born in Lorna Linda, California on March 22nd, 1959. His work in television began in 1982 when he played a young man named Randy on the "Amy & the Angel" episode of the ABC Afterschool Specials. Modine's first major film work was playing Louden Swain in Vision Quest in 1985, but his momentum really picked up for his memorable role as Private J.T. "Joker" Davis in Stanley Kubrick's Vietnam War epic Full Metal Jacket in 1987. In 2012 he played a character named Foley in The Dark Knight Rises. In 2016, he had a recurring role as the central antagonist, Martin Brenner, in the Netflix original series Stranger Things.
