Jonathan Frakes is an American actor and director born in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania on August 19th, 1952. He is best known for playing the role of Commander William T. Riker on the popular Paramount television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. Frakes appeared in 176 episodes of the series as well as four of the "Next Gen" era Star Trek feature films. He also provided the voice of Riker on three Star Trek: The Next Generation interactive video games. Frakes has also portrayed a quasi-clone of the Riker character named Thomas Riker in the "Defiant" episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

In addition to his acting talents, Frakes has also distinguished himself as a director. He directed eight episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and three episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager. He also directed the sequel films Star Trek: First Contact and Star Trek: Insurrection. In 1999, he became executive producer of the television series Roswell, directing five episodes of the series himself.
