Jon Pertwee was a British film and television actor born John Devon Roland Pertwee in the Chelsea district of London, England on July 7th, 1919.

In the science fiction genre, Jon Pertwee is best known for his portrayl of the third incarnation of the time-travelling Doctor from the long-running BBC television series Doctor Who. Pertwee played the Doctor for a total of 128 regular episodes as well as an uncredited appearance in "The Brain of Morbius (Part 4)" in addition to a guest appearance in "The Five Doctors" in 1983. Pertwee's last regular series appearance on Doctor Who was in "Planet of the Spiders (Part 6)".

Jon Pertwee passed away from a heart attack in Timber Lake, Connecticut on May 20th, 1996 at the age of 76.
