James McCaffrey is a television actor. He was born in Albany, New York in 1959. His career began in the early 1990s when he landed his first major role in the television series Viper. McCaffrey was cast in the lead role of Joe Astor, who was a former criminal named Michael Payton whose memory was erased and reprogrammed whereupon he became an officer for Metropol. McCaffrey appeared in twenty-two episodes of the series.
