George Reeves, born George Keefer Brewer, was an American film and television actor. He was born in Woolstock, Iowa on January 5th, 1914. Reeves is best known for playing the caped superhero Superman on the 1952-1958 on the first run syndication TV series Adventures of Superman.
In addition to playing the lead role on the series, George Reeves also directed three episodes of the show, making him one of the earliest actors to turn his talents to the director's chair. He directed "The Brainy Burro", "The Perils of Superman" and "All That Glitters", which was the final episode of the show.
George Reeves was found dead in his home in Beverly Hills, California, victim of a gunshot wound, on June 16th, 1959. To this day, it is still unclear whether Reeves took his own life or was shot by somebody else.
