Frank Robbins was a comic book illustrator born on September 9th, 1917. His work has been featured prominently in comic book titles published by Marvel Comics and DC Comics, many of which were published during the 1970s and early 1980s.

For Marvel, Frank was best known for his work on the Invaders comic strip, which was published from October, 1975 to September, 1979. Frank was the regular series artist beginning with issue #1 up until issue #28. He provided cover art illustrations on issues #28 and #34. Like most superhero titles, the series blended elements of fantasy with science fiction, often focusing on the fictional pseudo-scientific achievements of the Nazi party during World War II. A persistant sci-fi element that remained throughout the series was the Atlantean Imperial flagship piloted by Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner. Designed primarily for undersea adventures, the ship was also capable of atmospheric flight and was the principal means of locomotion for the main characters.

Frank Robbins was the regular series penciler on the 1978 title Man from Atlantis, which was based on the Man from Atlantis television series starring Patrick Duffy, which aired from 1977 to 1978 on NBC. Frank provided the penciles on the "There are Monsters in the Sea!" back-up story from issue #1 and was the featured artist on issues #2-7.

By the late 1980s, Frank Robbins was largely retired. Frank passed away on November 28th, 1994 at the age of 77.
