Donald Sutherland is an Canadian actor who was born on July 17th, 1935 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. A prolific actor with over one-hundred and fifty screen appearances to his credit, some of Sutherland's more notable movie roles included offbeat warriors in such war movies as The Dirty Dozen, in 1967, and M*A*S*H and Kelly's Heroes in 1970, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers in 1978. His first feature film was playing an uncredited bit role in the 1963 drama The World Ten Times Over.

• Father of actor Kiefer Sutherland.

• Insisted on performing most of his own stunts for Invasion of the Body Snatchers. His scenes at the pod factory were filmed without harnesses or nets. In the shot of a fireball erupting from the factory, Sutherland barely missed it. However, an extra missed his cue and was seriously injured from the explosion. ^[1]

• During filming of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Sutherland was hit by a Volkswagen beetle while filming a shot of Matthew and Elizabeth running. He fell onto the windshield and was able to see the driver saying "Oh, my God! Not you!" ^[2]
