Cut in half refers to a physical specimen being separated into two relatively equal pieces at the midway point of their mass. In terms of a human being, this is when someone is cut in half horizontally across the waist or abdomen. As animals tend to be four-legged, it could be represented as cutting vertically in a downward or upward slice. Being cut in half is different than being sliced in half, which is when a human body is rendered into two pieces vertically.
