Bryan Jay Singer is an American film and television director and producer. He is the director of the first two installments of the X-Men film series franchise as well as the first sequel to the prequel series beginning with the X-Men: Days of Future Past. Following the runaway success of X-Men and X2: X-Men United, Singer left the franchise to join ranks with the "distinguished competition" by helming the 2006 quasi-sequel Superman Returns.
