Armin Shimerman is an American actor born in Lakewood, New Jersey on November 5th, 1949. He is best known for playing the role of alien bartender Quark on the sci-fi television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

• Was the first actor ever to play a Ferengi on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

• Armin Shimerman had a recurring role on the TV comedic drama Boston Legal as a judge named Brian Hooper. The show starred several notable sci-fi actors including Stargate 's James Spader, original Star Trek leading man William Shatner and Shimerman's Star Trek: Deep Space Nine co-star Rene Auberjonois.

• Both Shimerman and DS 9 co-star Cirroc Lofton appeared in the "Watershed" episode of Invasion.

• Shimerman made a brief appearance in 1998's Star Trek: Insurrection as Quark in a photograph, but his scenes were deleted from the theatrical release of the film.

• 1998 was a big year for Armin Shimerman. Not only was he appearing regularly on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, but he also had a recurring role on the WB Network television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer playing the cantankerous Principal Snyder. Often, Shimerman would work a full day on the set of Buffy then rush over to the Paramount studio to sit through the makeup process for Quark on DS 9.
