Alfred Fabian Gough, III is an American film and television screenwriter and producer. He was born in Leonardtown, Maryland on August 22nd, 1967. Gough frequently collaborates with fellow screenwriter Miles Millar whom he had met while attending school at the University of Southern California. Among their various film and television credits, the team of Gough and Millar were the showrunners and executive producers behind the WB Network teen superhero drama Smallville. Gough and Millar bowed out of the series after season seven, but were still credited as developers on the show.

Gough's first work in the science fiction genre was writing three episodes of the time travel series Timecop, which aired in 1997 and 1998. He wrote "A Rip in Time", "Public Enemy" and "Alternate World", two of which revolved around the recurring antagonist, Jack the Ripper.

Alfred also co-wrote the screenplay for the pilot episode of a Smallville spin-off series called Mercy Reef, aka, Aquaman, which featured Justin Hartley in the role of the titular underwater hero who talks to fish. The episode was produced, but never aired. Hartley however, came on board the Smallville stable of characters anyway, not as Aquaman, but as the Emerald Archer, Green Arrow.
