- Castle Rock was created by Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason based on characters and concepts developed by author Stephen King. The character of Annie Wilkes was the central antagonist from the novel Misery, which was published by Viking Press in June, 1987. It was adapted into a feature film in 1990 by director Rob Reiner with Kathy Bates playing the role of Annie.
- This series is rated TV-MA. It contains scenes of graphic ooginess, intense cockadoodiness and dirty birdy language. Viewer discretion is advised.

Allusions[]
- In the Holy Bible, New Jerusalem is Ezekiel's prophetic vision of a city centered on the rebuilt Holy Temple, the Third Temple, to be established in Jerusalem, which would be the capital of the Messianic Kingdom, the meeting place of the twelve tribes of Israel, during the Messianic era.
- The title of this episode also refers to a line from the Carly Simon song, "Let the River Run", which was also the title to the premiere episode from this season.
- The Marsten House was a principal setting featured in the 1975 novel Salem's Lot, as well as its related television adaptations. In the original story, Richard Straker became the caretaker of the Marsten House on behalf of his vampire master, Kurt Barlow.
- A reference is made to the 1994 film The Shawshank Redemption in this episode. In the film, a guard searching for Andy Dufresne intones "You better be sick or dead". In this episode, Chris Merrill says the same line while searching for Ace. The Shawshank State Prison from the film makes appearances in both seasons of Castle Rock.
