Biography[]

Castiel and another angel named Uriel were tasked with preventing the opening of the sixty-six Seals of Lilith. To this end, they were sent to a rural American town where a witch calling herself Tracy Davis threatened to break a seal by summoning the Celtic deity Samhain. Castiel and Uriel were instructed to follow the orders of Dean Winchester to battle test him for the coming Apocalypse. It was during this affair that Castiel met Dean's brother, Sam Winchester for the first time. Unable to find the witch on their own, and giving as how time was of the essence, they were to smite the entire town to prevent the seal from being broken. Dean balked at this and assured them that they could find the witch and stop her without the need for the deaths of 1,214 innocent people. Sam and Dean failed in preventing the rise of Samhain, but they did succeed in banishing him. Castiel later confided to Dean that he had prayed he would make the right choice, and he did. He warned him however that dark times were approaching. [2]
