Carter Hall is a fictional archaeologist and superhero who goes by the code name of Hawkman. He is featured in his own line of comic book titles published by DC Comics, and is also connected to the Justice Society of America line of titles. He first appeared in Flash Comics #1 in January, 1940. Versions of the character have appeared in alternative media such as the Smallville television series where he was played by actor Michael Shanks and Legends of Tomorrow where he was played by Falk Hentschel.
