Carida is a fictional planet featured in the Star Wars multimedia franchise. It was first referenced indirectly in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, when Luke Skywalker expressed his desire to go to the Imperial Academy, which was located on Carida. It first appeared in the non-canon Expanded Universe in the 1994 novel Star Wars: Dark Apprentice by Kevin J. Anderson. It made its first film appearance in a deleted scene from the 2017 feature film Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Description[]

Carida was a Type-1 terrestrial planet in the Carida System in the Colonies region of the galaxy. It was the fourth planet from its sun and had two moons. It had various terrain depending upon region ranging from glacial tundras to arid deserts, to tropical jungles. Carida was first colonized by the Old Republic circa 12,000 BBY. The Academy of Carida was established on the planet as a military training facility. After the Clone Wars, the Academy of Carida was converted into the Imperial Academy for the training of human Imperial Stormtroopers and officers who would become part of the Imperial Army and the Imperial Navy.

Imperial Academy
The Imperial Academy is the official training camp and military learning center for the First Galactic Empire. It was established some time after the conclusion of the Clone Wars and was used to train cadets as officers for the Imperial Army and Imperial Navy, as well as stormtroopers, pilots, specialists, technicians, etc. It was based on the planet Carida.
