- Rick Jones made his appointment with Mordecai P. Boggs back in Captain Marvel #30.
- Rachel Dandridge makes reference to famous Motown crooners Ike Turner and Tina Turner in this issue.
- Nitro appears to suffer from Kyphosis, or "Hunchback" syndrome in this issue. One of the Air Force base MPs even refers to him as a hunchback. This detail is ignored or forgotten in later appearances.
- Rick Jones makes reference to Captain America in this issue. Rick used to be Cap's partner, and doubled as his side-kick Bucky for a time.
- This is a key issue, as Mar-Vell is exposed to the Compound 13 nerve gas, which will eventually give him cancer and result in his death.
