Captain Atom is an American ongoing comic book series of the science fiction and superhero fantasy genres. It is the third series to bear the name Captain Atom, and is the only such series published by Charlton Comics. This series continues the numbering sequence from Strange Suspense Stories beginning with issue #78. It ran for a total of twelve issues from December, 1965 to December, 1967.
This is the only Captain Atom title published by Charlton Comics. It is also the final Captain Atom title produced by an independent publisher (not counting the 1977 reprint series). From this point forward, all Captain Atom related material is published by DC Comics and/or their subsidiary, WildStorm Productions.
