Notes & Trivia[]
- This is the first appearance of Steve Rogers, aka, Captain America. He will go on to become one of the most enduring, well-known and beloved comic book superhero icons of all time.
- The Red Skull that appears in this issue is actually George Maxon, who is an imposter of the true Red Skull, who will be introduced in issue #5. He appears next in Captain America Comics #3.
- The character of Mark Curry, also known as Mercury, is retroactively attributed to the character of Makkari, one of the Eternals. This is the character's first appearance under the name Mark Curry. As Mercury, he first appeared in Red Raven Comics #1 in August, 1940.
- The cover to Athena Voltaire #1, published by Action Lab Comics in February, 2018, pays homage to this classic Jack Kirby cover by showcasing its eponymous adventurer, Athena Voltaire, knocking the spit out of Hitler.
