- The character of Captain America was created by writer Joe Simon and artist Jack Kirby. He was introduced in the pages of Captain America Comics #1, published by Timely Comics in March, 1941.

- According to Comic Reader #105, this issue shipped to retailers on April 9th, 1974.
- Although the true identity of Number One of the Secret Empire is not revealed, it was the intention of writer Steve Englehart for his identity to be that of then-President Richard Nixon.
